The library is central in providing a welcoming learning environment that supports Fountain Gate Secondary College's vision and aims to produce an information literate and literature enriched school community.

The library · is a learning environment where students are supported and encouraged to become effective and critical users of information, able to transform information into knowledge and deep understanding; · actively promotes a reading culture and reading for pleasure in response to research that has established a strong correlation between reading for pleasure and vital brain development, academic achievement and life-long learning; · facilitates and empowers students’ and teachers’ use of information technology to effectively access, process and communicate information for a range of purposes and audiences through individual and group instruction and provision of appropriate ICT equipment and digital resources; · caters for the range of learning styles, personal interests and cultural diversity through provision of appropriate resources, responsive pedagogy and personal interaction that models respect, kindness, helpfulness, fairness, self-discipline and valuing learning; · is a stimulating environment that encourages imagination, creativity, independent and critical thought, problem solving, individual and collaborative learning and study.
